In the very dynamic world we find ourselves in, PWG has had to adjust our company and the environment we are in, sometimes on a moment-by-moment basis. With Governor Newsom’s very aggressive order in mid-March for the cessation of activities except those outlined in the CISA list of Critical Infrastructures which includes essential retail and public safety functions, we have been required to limit our business operations in accordance with the orders of the State of California and the County of San Diego. Our primary goal is to keep you updated on these changes as they directly impact you as our members and customers of PWG Range.

Most importantly, I want to personally thank you all for your patronage, words of encouragement and much needed patience. These are unprecedented times and I want to do all I can to ensure the safety of the staff and all of you.  At the same time I feel compelled to ensure that PWG is open and always working to ensure you have access to exercise your constitutional rights, thus ensuring firearms and accessories are available to you to help ensure you, your family and loved ones comfort and safety.  We will get through COVID-19, together!

All Ranges are Open

All three ranges are open for reservations. Non members can schedule three days out and members can schedule 14 days out. This will be done through RESERVATIONS ONLINE. All range reservations will be in accordance and compliance with social distancing guidelines from the CDC..

Please note that due to Covid-19 we do not lend out firearms, eye protection, and ear protection. This is only temporary and we will go back to allowing rentals in the future. If needed, you can purchase eye and ear protection in our retail store. We do apologize for the inconvenience. 

Range Details & Guidelines

We have had many ask how the range reservations are working now that all three ranges are open for online bookings. First, we appreciate your eagerness to come back and join us!  We understand the enjoyment of practicing comes with bringing along your friend or family members. Here are the details.

1) All reservations are currently 1-hour long in duration. You’re allowed to book back-to-back reservations (but spots are limited).
2) Masks will be required until you are in your stall on the range. Once you are in your stall, then you may uncase your firearm and remove your face mask.

  • Open 7- Days a Week with temporary hours from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

COVID-19 Requirements

  • All visitors must keep 6 feet distance and comply with CDC guidelines (unless with a member from their household).
  • All visitors must wear a face mask while entering PWG in retail and stepping foot on the range. Once you are in your stall, then you may uncase your gun and remove your face mask.

  • We have a separate line for individuals entering the range.

  • If there is a product you like that is NOT in stock, we can special order it for you. But please understand that we cannot guarantee delivery dates – only estimates based on distributors.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the line outside the front door for?
The line outside is for customers for firearm and/or ammo related purchase(s) only. The wait time outside can take as long as two hours and when you arrive inside the retail store, there can be up to an additional two hour wait. We realize that is can be a big inconvenience due to Covid-19. Life requires all of us to have more patience then ever these days and we are processing orders as quickly as possible to get you in-and-out as quickly as possible.


If I have a class, private lesson, and/or range reservation do I have to wait in line outside the front entrance?
No. Follow the signs around the back entrance. You will get your temperature checked before entering the range per San Diego County Covid-19 Guidelines. Please bring your own eye and ear protection. If you do not have any of your own, you can purchase them in our retail store before you class, private lesson or range reservation begins. We have temporarily suspend the use of firearm rentals and will be available when things become normal again.


Do I have to wait in line to drop off or pick up my firearm from the Gunsmith?
No. If you are only doing a single transaction of picking up or dropping of your firearm you can walk up to the main entrance and ask for the gunsmith directly. The line outside is for customers who are planning on purchasing firearm and/or ammunition.


Do I have to wait in line to make a single purchase that I know you have in stock?
If you know the “specific item” you want and are making a single transaction that is not related to firearms and/or ammunition, you do not have to wait in line. Talk to our customer service agent at the front door for more information.


Can I come in and browse the store?
Due to covid-19 we can only allow 15 people inside at any given moment. so if you want to come inside, you would need to wait in line at the front door. Wait times do vary through out the day and we recommend that you call in to see what the current situation is before arriving as it can be up to two hours just to get in the store.


Are your Ranges still open?
Yes all ranges are now open to members & the public on a first come, first serve basis via our online reservation platform ONLY.

Can I bring a guest or family member?
No, unfortunately any reservation at this time is for INDIVIDUAL members only. No family members or guests are allowed with you on the range unless they have a reservation as well.

Do I have to practice social distancing at PWG Range?
Yes, we are limiting entry to 10 guests at a time. There often is a daily wait time of entry upon opening that can last anywhere from 1-hour or longer. We thank you in advance for your patience! For those visiting PWG Range, we ask that you please keep 6 feet of distance away from one another at all times except from those who are visiting together from the same household.

Do I have to wear a face mask at PWG?
Yes, as of May 1st, 2020 in accordance with the latest health order announced by the County of San Diego and California Public Health officials, everyone must wear face coverings anywhere in public they come within 6 feet of another person, or whenever they enter a business. We apologize in advance for this inconvenience, we do not make the rules – we simply must abide by them! If you come to PWG Range without a mask, we have been told that all San Diego County businesses must refuse service to anyone not wearing a face covering.

Do I have to wear a mask on the range, too?
Masks will be required until you are in your stall on the range. Once you are in your stall, then you may uncase your gun and remove your face mask.

How can I place an order or speak to someone regarding my order?
Please call our retail team directly Tuesday – Sunday 10am-6pm at (858) 206-5057. (We are closed on Mondays.)

Can I swing by to pick up a prepaid order?
Yes, please speak to one of our PWG team members upon your arrival and they can work with you to determine if your order is available and able to pick-up or if you will need to wait in line to finalize.

I’ve purchased a firearm, when will I be notified of my 10-day waiting period?
Yes, a member from our team will call you, if you do not hear from us – feel free to call us anytime weekly Tuesday – Sunday!

Are you still doing ammo background checks?
Yes, all ammo sales are back under Proposition 63 with background checks required in the state of California.

Can I still get a new membership?
Yes, all memberships are still available and can be viewed on the membership page. For specific membership questions or changes you can email our team at or call us directly at 858-206-5057 ext. 109.

How can I pause my membership?

Do you have any specials or discounts for first responders?
Yes! First, thank you for your service to our San Diego community – we appreciate YOU! All first responders who are current members of PWG Range have received a paused all membership dues as of April 1st, 2020 with a reassessment in three months (or July 1st, 2020).
